Worship: What true worship is

  • Worship is for everyone, everywhere, no matter our emotions.

  • Worship is an encounter with God and praise Him. Before Jesus came, worship was done in the temples. After Jesus came, we became the temple as long as our hearts were in relation with God.

  • The mercies of God are the motivation behind worship.

  • As we worship, we need to present our whole self to God. Be careful to not conform to the ways of the world.

  • Are you renewing and cleansing our minds in order to properly worship?

  • God is the only one who is worthy of worship.

  • True worship is a heart condition.

John 12:32

As for me, if I am lifted up[a] from the earth I will draw all people to myself.”

Psalm 150:1

Hallelujah!
Praise God in his sanctuary.
Praise him in his mighty expanse.

Matthew 12:6

I tell you that something greater than the temple is here.

Hebrews 10:19-20

Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have boldness to enter the sanctuary through the blood of Jesus— 20 he has inaugurated[a] for us a new and living way through the curtain (that is, through his flesh)—

Jonah 1:9

He answered them, “I’m a Hebrew. I worship[a] the Lord, the God of the heavens, who made the sea and the dry land.”

Romans 12:1-2

Therefore, brothers and sisters, in view of the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your true worship.[a] 2 Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.

1 John 2:15-16

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride in one’s possessions—is not from the Father, but is from the world.

1 Corinthians 2:16

For who has known the Lord’s mind,
that he may instruct him?[a]

But we have the mind of Christ.

Revelation 19:10

Then I fell at his feet to worship him, but he said to me, “Don’t do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers and sisters who hold firmly to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God, because the testimony of Jesus is the spirit[a] of prophecy.”

Amos 5:21-22

I hate, I despise, your feasts!
I can’t stand the stench
of your solemn assemblies.
22 Even if you offer me
your burnt offerings and grain offerings,
I will not accept them;
I will have no regard
for your fellowship offerings of fattened cattle.

Acts 17:23

For as I was passing through and observing the objects of your worship, I even found an altar on which was inscribed, ‘To an Unknown God.’ Therefore, what you worship in ignorance, this I proclaim to you.
