What is love
-
Jesus continues defending his authority from the Sadduecees and Pharisees. They ask him the greatest commandment, he refers to Deuteronomy 6:5 in his answer.
-
There a 4 different types of live in the Greek language. In these verses Jesus is talking about Agape love.
-
Eros- sensual or romantic love
-
Storge- familial love
-
Philia- friendship love
-
Agape- divine love, perfect, unconditional, sacrificial, and pure
-
If we can figure out how to truly obey these two commandments, almost all of our earthly problems would cease to exist.
-
We struggle with this for 3 reasons
-
We are not honest, with ourselves or each other
-
We are unwilling to forgive
-
Failure to chose to do the next right thing, be better

Today's Scriptures

Mathew 22:34-40
When the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they came together. 35 And one of them, an expert in the law, asked a question to test him: 36 “Teacher, which command in the law is the greatest?”
37 He said to him, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. 38 This is the greatest and most important command. 39 The second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. 40 All the Law and the Prophets depend on these two commands.”

Deuteronomy 6:5
Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.
