The fear of the Lord 2 types of fear

1. The spirit of fear, which is debilitating

2. Fear of the Lord, a total acknowledgement of all that God is, a respect. The fear of the Lord: Proverbs 1:7- is the beginning of knowledge

Proverbs 14:27- is the fountain of life

Proverbs 19:23- it leads to life, one will sleep at night

Proverbs 14:26- it gives a strong confidence

Psalms 34:9- will have us lack nothing

Proverbs 8:13- is to hate evil Evil is pride, evil conduct, and perverse speech

Matthew 10:28- don't fear those that can only kill the body

Proverbs 3:5-7- don't rely on your own understanding, turn away from evil.

Proverbs 1:7 

The fear of the Lord
is the beginning of knowledge;
fools despise wisdom and discipline.

​

Proverbs 14:26-27 

In the fear of the Lord one has strong confidence
and his children have a refuge.

27 The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life,
turning people away from the snares of death.

Proverbs 19:23

The fear of the Lord leads to life;
one will sleep at night without danger.

​

Psalms 34:9

You who are his holy ones, fear the Lord,
for those who fear him lack nothing.

​

Proverbs 8:13

To fear the Lord is to hate evil.
I hate arrogant pride, evil conduct,
and perverse speech.

Matthew 10:28

Don’t fear those who kill the body but are not able to kill the soul; rather, fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

​

Proverbs 3:5-7

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not rely on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways know him,
and he will make your paths straight.
7 Don’t be wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord and turn away from evil.
